Tripping with: Perez Hilton

Perez Hilton hardly needs any introduction. Love him or hate him, he changed the face of blogging in general and celebrity gossip blogging in particular when he launched in 2004. Since then, the site has grown by leaps and bounds,  currently attracting an incredible 2 million readers each month. His success allows him to regularly explore the world, having been to Turkey, Israel, and India in the  past year.

Hi Perez, welcome to Luxury Travel Beat’s Tripping With segment. You seem to always have a lot of rods in the fire, what are you working on at the moment?

I’m very excited to have just announced my first ever compilation album featuring some of my favorite new songs to sweat to! Perfect for your gym or party mix!

Yeah – you recently lost an incredible amount of weight and look really great! Congratulations! What are your tips for sticking to a healthy regime while travelling?

It is so hard! Sooooo hard! But, for me, I make it a point to hire a trainer in each city I go to and make sure I get my workout in!

You’ve been to London several times over the last few years, are there any places in the city that particularly resonate with you?

The entire city! I love how massive it is! There is always something to see I have yet to see, always something fun to do!

Wow, the entire city! I’ve lived here three years and there are still places I’m yet to love. How about your home city – what are the three things you’d tell a first-time visitor to Los Angeles to be careful not to miss?

Make a day trip to Disneyland. Do the Hollywood Walk of Fame and all the attractions around there. And then eat! Los Angeles has some amazing restaurants!

What’s your travelling style like?

Perez and his mother at the Taj Mahal, Agra, India.

Relaxing is fun for a weekend, but after 3 days of relaxing I get bored. I love exploring. Doing!

You’re about to embark on a trip. What is the one thing you would not leave home without?

My laptop!

And what would you say is your most memorable trip to date?

India this past December with my family. It was truly the best trip I’ve ever taken!

How about your worst holiday ever?

I went down to Puerto Vallarta this past Thanksgiving. It was during some gay circuit party. Not my scene. Not a fun trip! Ha

Best hotel you’ve stayed at?

The Lake Palace hotel in Udaipur. A palace! In a lake! Magical!

Ah, that’s part of the the Taj Hotels Resorts and Palaces! We reviewed its London Stablemate 51 Buckingham Palace. They really know how to run a hotel. Back to pertinent matters: you seem like a very sociable person. Who is the most memorable person you’ve met on your travels?

I always love meeting my readers in foreign places!

Favourite city in the world?

London, Tokyo or New York City. One of those three. Tough to pick just one.

If you could recommend just one destination to our readers, which one would it be?
India all the way!

Dream trip?
The next one I’m planning will be real nice! Going to go all over Southeast Asia! Can’t wait!
